Pelican Nebula, IC 5070
The Pelican Nebula is located in the Cygnus (Swan) constellation about 2,000 light-years away. The Pelican is a large H II (ionized hydrogen) stellar nursery often associated with the North American nebula out of frame to the left.

  • Image width and height = 42.5 X 33.7 light-years
  • Pixel size = 95.3 Billion (1.0E+11) miles, or 153.4 Billion (3.60E+11) kilometers.
  • Each pixel would hold 290 of our solar systems (Neptune's orbit diameter).
